GATINEAU, QC –Mercedes-Benz Canada executives joined dealer Philippe St-Pierre earlier this week to officially break ground at the luxury brand’s newest dealership, Mercedes-Benz Gatineau.

Construction of this new retail sales facility will begin immediately on a four-acre site located on Boulevard de la Vérendrye West.

The 50,000-square foot building will include a 13,000-square foot showroom, a 12,000-square foot service department with 10 service bays, two bays for cleaning and detailing, four drive-thru bays, as well as an 18,000-square foot pre-owned showroom that is located in the basement of the facility.

Officials expect the new dealership will be operational by next spring and will create approximately 40 new jobs.

“The construction of Mercedes-Benz Gatineau represents a $10 million investment and will become one of the greenest car dealerships in the east of Canada as far as energy and environment sustainability is concerned,” the automaker said, adding that the facility will also use geothermal energy.

The store will follow the Autohaus concept guidelines making use of a large quantity of glass to create a “sense of transparency” while maintaining an open concept environment.

”It is our great pleasure to welcome Philippe St-Pierre and Mercedes-Benz Gatineau to our dealer network. We wish them all the best and we are delighted to include Gatineau as one of the important markets that we will help us to continue to drive our brand’s sustained growth,” said Tim A. Reuss, president and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Canada. “We quickly realized and fully understood that Philippe was truly very enthusiastic to represent our brand in this market and we are just as impatient as he is to be able to serve our new clients in the Gatineau region very soon.”
