Ford store celebrates centennial

CALGARY, ALTA. – The product on the showroom floor has certainly changed a lot since Maclin Ford first opened its doors, but one thing that has remained since day one is the sign out front.

The Calgary-area dealership celebrated its 100th anniversary this week. The owners marked the occasion with two generous donations – $50,000 to the Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter and another $50,000 to the Alberta Children’s Hospital.

“As a dealership, we’ve always tried to be community focused and community oriented,” said Brad Jinjoe, Maclin Ford dealer principal, told the Calgary Herald.

Jinjoe told the paper the dealership is the first Ford store in Canada to hit the centennial mark. While there are other Ford operations that are older than Maclin Ford, the others started as gas stations or mechanic shops before being awarded a Blue Oval franchise.

The event included a 1917 Ford Model T and remarks from the current Ford Canada president and CEO, Mark Buzzell.
