Hyundai Canada launches its At-Home Test Drive shopping tool

Hyundai Canada announced the launch of its At-Home Test Drive tool, allowing customers to experience a Hyundai vehicle at their home or workplace. The at-home test drives, a first for a mainstream automotive brand in Canada, are to be facilitated by one of 199 participating dealerships across Canada.
“With the increase in customers shopping online, the test drive was the next step in the purchasing process that could be booked online and completed without leaving your home,” said Lawrence Hamilton, director of marketing at Hyundai Canada. “We want to provide multiple, safe options for every customer who is looking to experience Hyundai products and purchase a new vehicle.”
Customers can book a date and time for the at-home test drive through the Hyundai Canada website and their local dealer will arrange the pick-up and drop-off of the chosen vehicle. Alternatively, customers can also setup an appointment for a drive at their preferred dealership using the online tool.
At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Hyundai Canada pioneered its industry-leading “Safe and Sound” program for dealerships, outlining how they were to do business safely during the pandemic, including facilitating vehicle test drives. These operational procedures continue Canada-wide and will be applied to at-home test drives.
The Safe and Sound program provides strict, national guidelines for dealerships that are incremental to the extraordinary safety precautions that have been adopted during the pandemic. These procedures include: the installation of Plexiglas partitions, controlling flow of customers and staff, sanitizing vehicles before and after every service and test drive, and strongly encouraging customers to visit dealerships by appointment only to limit overcrowding.
