CALGARY, ALTA. – The McManes Automotive Group is preceding full steam ahead with yet another construction project in Calgary.

On the slate now promises to be the stunning home of Mercedes-Benz Country Hills – a 94,500 square-foot gem in Calgary’s booming northeast corner.

The dealership will sit on a 7.8-acre lot and follow brand’s Auto Haus design standard.

And while the short-term timing isn’t great – looming provincial recession, oil patch woes, rising unemployment and growing vehicle loan delinquency rates – there is no doubt Calgary is Canada’s next great luxury vehicle market.

Proof positive of that point is the fact that Country Hills will be the city’s third Mercedes-Benz store along with Mercedes-Benz Downtown Calgary and Lone Star Mercedes-Benz.

Country Hills will boast a 50,000 square foot back shop complete with 30 bays, a full service deli-style restaurant and a hair and nail salon.

Outgoing company president Tim Reuss said at the ground breaking that the brand wanted to keep a timely and opportune pace with the city’s urban sprawl.

“I am delighted to officially welcome Jim McManes to the Mercedes-Benz family,” he added, noting McManes and his team have clearly demonstrated their understanding and commitments to Mercedes-Benz’ overall objectives.

“In keeping with the spirit of the pioneering West, we are thrilled to expand the reach of the brand that invented the automobile,” McManes said.

“We are committed to building a business with the mission of serving existing and future customers all the while providing a compelling ownership experience. We are confident that the know-how we have gained from managing multiple retail operations will greatly contribute to the continued success of Mercedes-Benz in Calgary.”

Construction of the new store is slate to wrap sometime in early 2017. Costs for the project were not revealed.

McManes Automotive Group runs more than a dozen locations throughout Alberta, B.C. and Manitoba. It is currently building South Trail Kia, South Trail Chrysler and planning to build South Trail Hyundai.
