SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. – Clark’s Toyota was sold to Garry Pye and his growing Nova Scotia-based Pye Group of Companies.

Financial details of the deal, first announced by local media late last week, were not disclosed.

Lowell Clark opened the Summerside, P.E.I.-dealership in 1965, says the Summerside Journal Pioneer. Lowell’s sons David and Scott both began working at the dealership in the early 1980s, eventually buying it from their father in 1991. The pair said the deal with Pye will be good for employees and customers.

The dealership has earned six Toyota Pinnacle Awards for service.

Garry Pye, who owns Pye Chevrolet in Truro, Amherst Toyota and Truro Toyota, said in a press release he would retain the store’s staff. Bill Booth will move from Truro Toyota to manage the P.E.I store.

“We’ve had our eye on the Clark’s operation for some time and knew that part of David and Scott’s success has been in providing a great customer experience, which is a direct reflection of their dedicated and skilled staff,” Pye told local media.
