WINNIPEG, MAN. – Bruce Axelson and his Regina-based Capital Automotive Group have added long-time Winnipeg auto dealer Landau Ford Lincoln to its growing stable of auto dealerships.

In addition to its new acquisition and its Capital GMC Buick Cadillac flagship store in Regina, the auto group operates Capital Ford Lincoln in Regina, Capital GMC Buick in Edmonton, Capital Kia in Yorkton and McKenzie sales and leasing (pre-owned sales) in Regina.

Cam Bottrell, the newly installed president of the renamed Capital Ford Lincoln in Winnipeg, reports that the deal to buy Landau Ford Lincoln – which became official as of August 1 - came together very quickly.

“Bruce (Axelson) got into a conversation with (Landau dealer principals) Bob and Len Friesen,” Bottrell says.

“Bob and Len are good guys.  They had decided that it was time for them to pursue other opportunities. The culture at Landau is similar to the culture at our Regina store.”

Bottrell reports that no staff changes are being planned at the former Landau Ford Lincoln.

“The staff here is really good,” he says. “Bob and Len made a point of introducing us to everyone. Many have been here for as long time and the customer satisfaction scores are excellent.”

He says the plan is to triple the number of new and used models the store carries in the hopes of driving more volume.

“We are asking Ford for 600 new vehicles. We are looking forward to significantly increasing our share of the market in Winnipeg,” he says
