The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Volkswagen executives have promised some type of restitution plan for U.S. dealers hurt by the ongoing and devastating emissions cheating scandal.
Citing dealers familiar with the plan, the paper said an American VW executive told a gathering of roughly 150 dealers from the U.S. northeast at a meeting late last week.
The dealer meeting is reportedly one of several the company is hosting with its U.S. retailer network to inform dealers how the automaker will proceed with the $15 billion settlement agreed upon in U.S. courts.
There is no word on how this will play out with Canadian retailers.
