Shiv Dilawri opens second Mazda point

OTTAWA, ONT. – After months of construction, dealer Shiv Dilawri officially opened the doors to his new, $12-million Barrhaven Mazda dealership.
The 23,000-square foot facility boasts a nine-car showroom, 14 service bays, multiple delivery bays and a six-vehicle service drive-thru overlooking highway 416.
“This is an extra special project for me because of my own relationship with Mazda Canada,” Dilawri said at the grand opening.
“This began 29 years ago, when Mazda Canada gave me the opportunity to open my first dealership in 1988. Now at store number eight, I know how important that first store was for me to get here. I learned the ins and outs of running a car dealership and built important relationships, which last to today.”
This marks the second Mazda store for Dilawri, who also owns and operates Ottawa’s Bank Street Mazda. It also marks the second facility built in Barrhaven, a growing suburb in the southwest region of Ottawa, as the dealership group had previously opened a ground-up build called Barrhaven Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram.
Taking the mic at the grand opening party was Mazda Canada president, Masaharu Kondo. The executive said Dilawri has been a successful Mazda partner for nearly three decades because of his focus on the customer experience.
Dave Klan, senior director of sales, marketing and regional operations at Mazda, called Dilawri “one of the most successful, long-term relationships” in the company’s history and noted that 2018 will mark Mazda’s 50th anniversary in Canada and 30th anniversary with Dilawri.
“We are passionate about the Mazda product because we believe in it; in the quality, design and in the people running the organization,” Dilawri added.
“We feel extremely fortunate that Mazda Canada has given us another opportunity to continue to share its product with the Ottawa community, now from Barrhaven.”
