Steele group adds Corner Brook’s City Chrysler

CORNER BROOK, NL. – One of Atlantic Canada’s largest dealership groups has ventured beyond its Nova Scotia stronghold and purchased a Newfoundland Chrysler store.
Steele Auto Group confirmed it has received OEM approval to purchase City Chrysler in Corner Brook, NL., from Jason O’Reilly. The dealership has been a fixture in the town for more than 60 years. O’Reilly and his family have owned and operated the dealership for the past 23 years.
Due diligence is currently underway ahead of a scheduled closing date of March 31. Financial details were not disclosed, though it was revealed that O’Reilly would stay on as dealer principal.
Steele Auto Group chief Rob Steele characterized this move into Newfoundland as a “major strategic move” for the company.
“With limited growth opportunities within our current operating area, it is a natural progression to seek out other opportunities,” Steele said in a release.
The group operates 13 new car franchises all located in either Halifax or Dartmouth. This is the third Chrysler store for the group.
