Charities the big winners after BMO Retail Dealer Finance golf tourney

The golf played at BMO Retail Dealer Finance’s 5th annual charity golf tournament may not be anything to write home about, but the cause they played for certainly was.
Giving second chances to Canadian children in need was the central theme of this year’s tournament, as BMO RDF and its affiliated sponsors raised over $24,000 for Sick Kids Hospital and Kids Help Phone.
Over 100 industry movers and shakers hit the links at Glen Abbey Golf Club, a former host of the Canadian Open in Oakville, Ontario on June 10.
The round was followed by a BBQ lunch and a charity auction for top notch prizes like corporate box seats for Toronto Maple Leaf and Toronto FC games that raked in over $10,000 alone. BMO RDF employees also raised an additional $15,000 in their annual inter-office charity raffle for both organizations.
In total, over $40,000 was raised.
Scientist, physiologist and sports doctor, Dr. Greg Welles, spoke on behalf of Sick Kids Hospital and thanked BMO RDF along with everyone in attendance for their support of such a great cause.
“It’s incredible to have a corporate partner such as BMO Retail Dealer Finance. This type of support has allowed researchers at Sick Kids to move cutting-edge ideas forward very quickly, and has greatly facilitated the purchase of a very specific piece of equipment that has augmented our current research capacities,” he said.
“I am confident that this year we will be able to use this equipment to make some discoveries that will make a profound impact for the kids at Sick Children’s Hospital.”
Sharon Wood, president and CEO of Kids Help Phone, said it is great that BMO Financial Group and RDF in particular continue to demonstrate such strong support for the mental and emotional well-being of kids all over Canada.
“Young people need a safe and supportive place to turn to when they have questions or problems they may not feel ready to share with anyone else. Kids Help Phone is that place,” she said.
Raymond O’Kane, national director of BMO RDF thanks all of the “industry friends” for helping support the iniative.
“Considering BMO RDF has been able to raise over $110,000 for these foundations in the last four years, there’s no telling what this great gathering can accomplish in the years to come.”
