Automakers hope to reopen operations with stringent testing protocols, safety equipment for employees

Reuters is reporting that global automakers are looking to restart production soon with new safety and protection protocols for workers.

Each automaker is approaching the challenge of getting vehicle production back online differently.

Ferrari NV said it would provide voluntary blood tests to those who wanted to know if they had been exposed to COVID-19. General Motors Co said it was looking to adopt temperature screenings, daily health questionnaires and redesigning production lines to keep assembly workers a safe distance from each other, along with masks and gloves for all workers.

Fiat Chrysler (FCA) said it is in discussion with unions to put in place protections for workers at its Italian operations.
