Global News is reporting that British Columbia’s attorney general is looking into providing residents of the province the ability to purchase and renew auto insurance online.

While no date was revealed as to when the province’s driver will get these services, David Eby said the ICBC was looking into online auto insurance purchases and renewals, but did suggest that he would start looking into it in the fall after changes made to help reduce costs at the public insurer comes into effect.

“They were working on it as I understand it before the government shifted and we decided to focus on the big holes in the side of the ship,” he said. “But once we get things under control at ICBC financially, we will be working with our insurance broker partners on delivering online insurance.”
