Chevrolet is delving deeper into the North American small car market with the announcement of an all-new compact called the Sonic.
“Following the successful formula of the award-winning Chevrolet Cruze, which has changed the way people look at compact cars, the new Sonic takes aim at energizing Canada’s small car segment,” said Marc Comeau, vice president, Chevrolet Canada.
The Sonic, the company said, is “ideally suited” to the Canadian market as a small, fuel-efficient vehicle and represents its commitment to exploring the small-vehicle market in this country.
There was no sales timeline given, though GM said the vehicle would continue to be called the Aveo in other markets. The car will be sold under that nameplate in over 50 countries.
