Ford May Scrap Edge SUV Putting Oakville Plant in Jeopardy

Bloomberg is reporting that AutoForecast Solutions is saying that Ford Motor Co. is looking at plans that may see the company put a halt to its next-generation Edge SUV and which could see the Canadian assembly plant that produces the crossover at risk of closure.

The assembly plant in Oakville, Ontario currently produces the Lincoln Nautilus and Ford Edge.

The demise of the Edge, which debuted in 2006 and received a facelift in 2019, would leave the plant with no new product to anchor it, said Sam Fiorani, vice-president at AutoForecast Solutions who cited industry sources in the Bloomberg story.
