General Motors has said it will cut the number of car and truck frames it uses in half in a bid to run a more efficient operation.
The news came Tuesday during a presentation for its annual automotive global business conference for analysts.
Sources also say the company will up capacity by 45 per cent at factories in Brazil, Russia, India and China within two and a half years to capitalize on international growth markets.
News reports indicate that GM would cut the number of different cars and trucks frames from the 30 used last year to 14 by 2018. The move would help save the company on design, manufacturing and engineering costs.
