Honda Motor Co. is recalling roughly 1.35 million Fits worldwide because of potentially defective wiring in the headlights.

Honda Canada was quick to report today that no Canadian Fit models are affected because the Canadian model has a different wiring system in order to comply with daytime running light requirements.

News reports indicate the recall includes 143,000 cars in the United States and 734,000 cars in Japan.

Honda says this massive recall would cost the company around US$42.8 million.

The automaker reports that no accidents have been reported due to the defect.

Today's announcement comes on the heels of three large recalls yesterday affecting models from Volkswagen, Chrysler and Ford.
