Hyundai has announced that later this summer it will be rolling into dealerships its 2022 Santa Cruz.

“Santa Cruz, with its bold styling, breaks open all new segment territory, both for Hyundai and the industry as a whole,” said José Muñoz, president and CEO, Hyundai Motor North America in a news release. “Open-bed flexibility coupled with closed-cabin security meets the changing everyday needs of its adventure-oriented buyers, while the powerful and efficient engine and superb manoeuvrability ensure it is a pleasure to drive in urban or off-road environments. Our customers will wonder just how they managed before owning one.”

The 2022 Santa Cruz will offer several design enhancements such as a cascading grille, a more voluminous hood and fenders, and 20-inch alloy wheels. Interior enhancements include an enveloping dual-cockpit design, a stacked centre display that will showcase an edgeless 10.25-inch infotainment screen and an optional digital cluster display that will also measure 10.25-inches. For those wishing to enjoy their music or podcasts, there is an available Bose audio system as well.

Under the hood will be a 2.5-litre four-cylinder turbo offering 275 horsepower and some 310 lb-ft of torque and linked to a dual-clutch automatic transmission. For Canada, there will be available an HTRAC all-wheel drive offering with some 5,000 lb of towing capacity and Multi Terrain Control modes: Mud, Sand and Snow.
