Infiniti launches performance line

Infiniti quelled rumours late last week with the announcement of a specialty-performance vehicle collection at the annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California.
Called the Infiniti Performance Line or IPL, the new line of performance-focused models is aimed at buyers seeking “performance luxury,” the company said in a press release.
The limited production vehicles are scheduled to hit Infiniti showrooms in Canada next March. The first IPL model displayed for the public was a 348-horsepower G Coupe.
“The Infiniti Performance Line, or IPL, offers a new level of premium performance for Infiniti vehicles, focusing not just on engine power and acceleration, but on redefining total vehicle performance,” said Wendy Durward, director of Infiniti Canada.
“IPL promises unique driving attributes with exclusive designs, different from other Infiniti models in each selected Infiniti line. The 2011 IPL G Coupe is just the first of what we expect to be a range of IPL performance vehicles in the future.”
Durward says the IPL vehicles begin with all of Infiniti’s bells and whistles. The automaker then “heightens” the luxury and performance levels through modifications to the exterior, interior, engine tuning and suspension.
IPL models will be identified by a special engine cover and trunklid badging.
