Mercedes-Benz Canada announced that Fang (Freda) Wang will be the company’s new vice-president, network, training and process development effective March 1st, 2019.

She will be taking over the position from Hannu Ylanko, who will be retiring at the end of March 2019 following a thirty-year career with the company. Wang is currently the director of marketing at China’s Beijing Mercedes-Benz Sales Service Co., Ltd. (BMBS).

Wang first joined the Daimler family in 2010, starting out with Mercedes-Benz (China), Ltd., before being promoted to director of after-sales retail operations at BMBS in 2012. In 2013, she was appointed to her current position, where she has been responsible for developing the Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes-AMG, Mercedes-Maybach and smart brands in the Chinese market. She has been recognized for her role in making the company the most popular automotive brand in China.

“In recent years, Mercedes-Benz Canada has seen unprecedented results and we are working hard to take the necessary steps to maintain that momentum and continue to deliver top-quality products and customer experiences,” said Brian D. Fulton, president and CEO, Mercedes-Benz Canada. “Vital to these efforts is ensuring we have the right leadership in place, and Freda certainly fits that requirement. Her background in retail consulting, operations and marketing – not to mention experience in our largest market – is sure to stand her in good stead in this new role and will be a real asset to the company.”

“I am really looking forward to coming back to Canada, working with a team that has a reputation for being so passionate and engaged, and becoming better acquainted with the country’s luxury automotive marketplace,” said Wang. “This is a time of significant change and potential for Mercedes-Benz Canada and I am excited to begin working with my new colleagues to make the most of every opportunity.”
