Mitsubishi sends i-MiEV, Triton to Japan for disaster relief

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation is sending 30 i-MiEVs and a number of Triton trucks to help in the disaster relief effort in Japan.
“Many of the afflicted areas are troubled with a serious gasoline shortage issue – therefore, electric vehicles have been called upon for its characteristic of being able to run without any specific facility as long as there is an electricity supply,” the company said in a release issued today.
The large cargo 4WD pickup Tritons will also be sent shortly.
The automaker says 30 i-MiEVs will be shipped out on Friday while additional vehicles will be sequentially sent out according to the afflicted areas’ needs.
