Hankook Tire Canada Corp. has a new head as Ken (K.W.) Cho takes over for Bryan Woo as president of Canadian operations.
No stranger to the Hankook business, Cho has more than six years experience at the senior level for the world’s seventh largest tire manufacturer and numerous years experience as a manager.
His most recent position was that of team manager, global marketing strategy team at Hankook Tire’s headquarters in Seoul. Cho will utilize his knowledge and experience in corporate management and strategic marketing to focus on further strengthening the Hankook brand in Canada.
“Canada is an important market for Hankook Tire and I am excited with the opportunity to work with our team in Canada.” Cho said in a release. “We will continue to work closely with the North American headquarters to solidify Hankook’s position as the leading tire manufacturer in Canada.”
Hankook Tire experienced remarkable growth in Canada. In 2009, it opened a new Canadian head office and warehouse in Brampton, Ont. Following the expansion, Hankook Tire Canada opened a second distribution centre in B.C., as a direct response to the strong demand for its quality products in Western Canada.
As well, Hankook Tire Canada has stepped up its focus on marketing communications strategies and activities by signing a three year partnership with Hockey Canada in 2009, and by selecting NATIONAL Public Relations - Canada’s largest public relations firm - to communicate with consumers more closely.
Cho succeeds Bryan Woo who is returning to Korea after four years at the helm of the Canadian operations. Woo will now be the V-P in charge of original equipment division at Hankook’s global headquarters.
