Nissan announces Canadian price tags for redesigned 2016 Sentra
MISSISSAUGA, ONT. – $15,898 buys a lot of car. That’s the MSRP for the entry-level Sentra S with 6-speed manual transmission.
Nissan says the window sticker on the S will be up $300 over last year, but consumers will be getting good value for that $300.
“The exterior redesign brings Sentra closer to the all-new 2016 Maxima and new 2016 Altima,” the automaker said in a release. “All three Nissan sedans reflect Nissan’s new design language first introduced on the dramatic Nissan Murano crossover.”
“Sentra is the second-best selling product for Nissan in Canada, and has experienced steady market share growth in recent years,” said Steve Rhind, director of marketing at Nissan Canada, Inc.
“To help keep momentum going, we’ve given Sentra a new look and feel for 2016, starting with a revised exterior and the addition of an expanded suite of available safety and driving aid technologies.”
Key features of the new Sentra exterior include new front and rear fascias, grille, fenders, hood and signature boomerang-shaped headlights and taillights.
Inside, the redesigned interior features a new steering wheel.
Sentra SR and SL grades add new LED low-beam headlights with LED signature accents.
New as well are the available power driver’s seat with power lumbar, new center cluster and audio display design, new console and shifter knob and refined seat fabrics.
The instrument panel features an Advanced Drive-Assist Display (ADAD) with 5.0-inch screen located between the tachometer and speedometer on Sentra SV, SR and SL grades.
These grades also get Siri Eyes Free Voice Recognition as standard equipment.
A number of Nissan’s advanced Safety Shield Technologies are also now available on Sentra for the first time – Forward Emergency Braking, Intelligent Cruise Control, Blind Spot Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
Another new available technology is NissanConnectSM Services powered by SiriusXM. It offers emergency preparedness, remote access, customizable alerts and convenience services.
The system lets the driver set customized alerts for family and friends – such as speed, curfew and boundary notifications.

Intelligent Cruise Control and Forward Emergency Braking are part of the new Technology Package on the Sentra SL grade.
Blind Spot Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert are included in the Luxury Package (SV) and Premium Package (SR) and standard on Sentra SL.
Nissan says handling is improved through use of the third-generation D-Step logic for Xtronic transmission-equipped models.
The D-Step Logic Control helps provide a more stable, natural and crisper shift versus earlier models.
Steering feel and response have also been improved through use of optimized Electric Power Steering mapping in conjunction with the revised suspension and new tire design.
The 2016 Sentra also delivers improved performance and handling through a retuned suspension design featuring a 10 per cent increase in spring and damper rates, as well as enhanced body stiffness for improved roll and body control.
All Sentra models use a fuel-efficient 1.8-litre 4-cylinder engine mated to an advanced Xtronic transmission with sub-planetary gear.
A 6-speed manual transmission is also available with the Sentra S and SV grades.
Fuel economy is rated at 8.0 L/100km city, 6.1 L/100km highway and 7.2 L/100km combined with the Xtronic transmission.
The Sentra with 6-speed manual transmission is rated at 8.9 L/100km city, 6.6 L/100km highway and 7.9 L/100km combined.
