OpenRoad VW Burnaby unveiled Volkswagen’s new ID.4, the German auto giant’s much-anticipated first fully electric compact SUV crossover, during the “Electric for Everyone” event on August 9th.
With prices starting at $44,995 and with a $5,000 federal EV rebate available, OpenRoad VW Burnaby already has hundreds of customers waiting to receive the first available units expected to be delivered this fall.
“We’re excited to welcome VW’s first fully electric vehicle to the OpenRoad VW family,” said Harj Gill, vice-president, regional operations responsible for OpenRoad VW Burnaby. “The ID.4 is the ideal Vancouver SUV. It’s compact, it’s stylish, it’s technologically advanced, and most importantly, it’s environmentally friendly.”
The ID.4 features an estimated single-charge range of 400 kilometres, enough to easily travel from Vancouver to Kelowna without recharging. Plus, the ID.4 is available in both rear- and all-wheel drive with options to deliver 201 horsepower and 229 lb-ft of torque. A DC fast charger can replenish 75 per cent of the ID.4’s 82-kWh battery in a brisk 38 minutes, or up to 100 kilometres in approximately ten minutes.
With clean lines and aerodynamic elements that create a striking silhouette, this EV doesn’t sacrifice form for function. Drivers will experience true German-engineered craftsmanship – just with a stylish, electric twist. Plus, with the optional Statement Package the style goes up a level. With premium LED projector headlights, 20-inch Drammen wheels, a black-painted roof, silver roof rails, and 30 colour options for interior ambient lighting – this is the kind of all-electric style that commands attention.
The ID.4 is one of 75 all-electric models that Volkswagen will release worldwide by 2029. As a company, it has pledged to achieve complete carbon neutrality by 2050.
