Scotiabank wanted to celebrate being recognized by J.D. Power as Canadian car dealers’ favourite when it came to floor planning. So it donated $10,000 to the Canadian Automotive Institute in Barrie, Ont.
The money will fund scholarships in both the degree and diploma programs.
“What we wanted to do was celebrate our top-place ranking in floorplan satisfaction by doing something substantial for the automotive community, something good for the automotive community,” said Ron Porter, senior V-P of Scotiabank’s automotive division.
“The CAI in Barrie generates excellent candidates who find careers in dealerships, auto distributors and financial institutions. So what better way than to invest in the industry and our futures by providing scholarship funding for the next three years for our future auto industry leaders.”
Porter went on to say that there was a need in the “dealership world” for young people to take the business into the next generation.
“This award is supporting their financial needs to get the education that will position them to move into the dealership world.”
