As September sales numbers start to trickle out, Ford Motor Company of Canada has lept out of the gate with a sales increase of 64 per cent over the same time last year making for the best September in more than 30 years.
Overall car sales increased 15 per cent for the Blue Oval while truck sales grew 81 per cent. Crossover sales jumped 124 per cent compared to last September making for the best fall month totals since 1978.
“With sales up 22 per cent year-to-date, Ford of Canada continues to lead the market for 2010,” the company said in a release. With its first full month of sales, the newly redesigned, Canadian-built 2011 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX showed positive gains with sales increasing 174 per cent and 224 per cent, respectively.
Individual winners included the Ford F-150, which saw in increase of 94 per cent year-over-year and the Lincoln MKT, which exploded with a 171 per cent jump.
Total sales topped 26,453 for the month and have driven year-to-date totals to 210,451, a 21 per cent increase over this time last year.
