Nissan posts record January

Nissan Canada had its best January sales on record with a total of 5,351 units sold, an increase of 23.4 per cent over January 2011.

Sales for the Nissan brand were 4,986 units, up 24.4 per cent while Infiniti sales grew by 10.6 per cent, with 365 units sold.
 
Nissan’s core models continued to perform well with the Nissan Rogue leading Nissan sales, achieving a new January sales record with 1,071 units sold (up 18 per cent). Sales of Sentra and Murano increased significantly year-over-year up 70.1 and 62.6 per cent, respectively.

Altima and Versa sales were also up with 863 and 655 units sold, respectively while the all-electric Nissan LEAF sold 30 units in January.
 
Nissan’s truck/SUV sales were strong last month with significant year-over-year increases for the Frontier (223.5 per cent), Pathfinder (63.3 per cent) and Xterra (37.0 per cent).
 
Infiniti sales were up 10.6 per cent this month with the G line-up continuing to be Infiniti’s top seller with 202 units sold, an increase of 42.3 per cent. The Infiniti FX continues to perform well in the Canadian winter with 56 units sold last month, an increase of 7.7 per cent.
 
“This is our third consecutive month achieving record sales,” said Allen Childs, president of Nissan Canada Inc. “We’re pleased to have such a strong start to the new year and with the exciting products coming to both the Nissan and Infiniti line-ups, we’re sure this momentum will continue.”
 
Highlights included:
- Best January sales for:
1.    Rogue - 1,071 units sold, an 18 per cent year-over-year increase
2.    Frontier - 220 units sold, up 223.5 per cent
3.    GT-R – 5 units sold, up 400 per cent

- Sales of the all-electric Nissan LEAF were 30 units in January

- Sentra sold 706 units, up 70.1 per cent

- Pathfinder sold 294 units, up 63.3 per cent
