Pricing announced for Pathfinder hybrid
Nissan said its 2014 Nissan Pathfinder hybrid, which will go on sale at Nissan dealers across Canada in December, would start at $39,248.
The new Pathfinder Hybrid joins the Pathfinder 3.5-litre model in the expanded 2014 lineup, bringing the available model configurations to eight.
The MSRP of $39,248 for the SV 4WD Hybrid model marks a slight jump over the $35,248 charged for a comparably equipped SV 4WD 3.5-litre V6 model.
Powering the new unit is supercharged 2.5-litre gasoline engine and an electric motor paired to a compact Lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery. The Li-ion battery fits under the third row seat, a move the automaker insists does not limit second or third row legroom or cargo space.
The hybrid system uses a Nissan Intelligent Dual Clutch System (one motor / two clutch parallel system) that manages power from both the electric motor and the gas engine. The 15 kW electric motor and gas engine work in tandem to provide performance equivalent to the Pathfinder 3.5-litre gasoline V6 model.
The system is rated at 250 net horsepower and 243 lb-ft of torque – versus the 3.5-litre V6 ratings of 260 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque.
Fuel economy is rated at 7.4 L/100 km combined, an increase of 22 per cent over the standard Pathfinder.
City fuel economy is 7.8 L/100 km, while highway mileage is rated at 7.1 L/100 km. With the Pathfinder Hybrid’s large 73-litre fuel tank, the same as 3.5-litre V6-equipped models, driving range is estimated at more than 1,000 kilometres.
A Pathfinder Platinum (with Premium Package) 4WD Hybrid is available for $49,198. Freight and PDE are listed as $1,560.
